Senior Project Structural Engineer

Ammon J. Hedin, SE

At the age of three, Ammon was on a vacation with his family at Bear Lake. As they were hiking, they came across a stream and decided to jump across. Ammon decided to build a bridge. That is when his mother knew he was going to be an engineer.

Ammon is proud to be an Aggie. He began his studies at Utah State University in electrical engineering, but after a year realized that structural engineering aligned more with his interests. He put himself through college building cabins in Bear Lake and working in IT. His background in electrical, computers, and construction has helped him become a well rounded, practical, and approachable engineer in the field.

Ammon completed his studies at Utah State University and joined ARW in 2012. Throughout his years at ARW he has worked on a variety of projects including: churches, temples, commercial buildings, hotels, and multi-story apartment buildings. It gives him great satisfaction seeing a challenging project go from an initial draft to a completed building.

Ammon organizes the ARW blood drive several times throughout the year. ARW employees have donated over 150 gallons of blood since 2007.

When he is not working, Ammon loves traveling and spending time in the great outdoors with his wife, three kids, and dog. They like to visit the Oregon coast, explore national parks, and spend time camping, hiking, kayaking, canyoneering, and biking in the mountains. Ammon has recently started a new hobby of bikepacking which combines his love of mountain biking and camping. He often tells his wife, "The mountains are calling and I must go."
