Structural Designer

Marianne Nelson

Marianne’s interest in structural engineering began in a drafting class in high school where she got to design and draft a dental office building for a competition. Initially planning to study civil engineering and get a master’s degree in architecture, Marianne’s plans changed the more structural engineering classes she took. She loves the combination of math, design, and problem solving in structural engineering.

Marianne graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a minor in consulting in May 2023 from Utah State University. She is currently finishing her master’s degree in structural engineering to be completed in May 2024.

Marianne enjoys spending time with her family, watching USU basketball games, skiing, running, and just about any craft.

“If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway... Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you’ve got anyway…””
